My 5yo daughter is doing well with her phonics program. And her reading is improving every day. Here is the page she created today learning about the consonants and vowels. If you click on the picture it will enlarge it.

The red checkmarks indicate consonants that make more than one sound. The "qu" is underlined because it is one sound but more than one letter. The "y" is circled because it functions both as a consonant and a vowel depending on the word.

The underlined vowels indicate that the vowel is saying its long sound at the end of a syllable.

We love SWR also. This is our second year. Why isn't everyone taught this way? I wish I could go back and do it all over with my 5th grader. Love her handwriting. It is very neat for a 5 year old. My 7 year old isn't that neat. (He is a boy, though).LOL

Yay! Looks great! Isn't it exciting?! :o)

My little man (5yo) did his C&V page last week (Weeks 1&2 blog post) and we just completed the Numbers page (Week 3 blog post). I'm amazed at how fast and easily he remembers the spelling rules too. He loves SWR! We're looking forward to starting List A on Thursday (our Week 4).

Thanks for sharing!
