MathTutorDVD - Basic Math Word Problem Tutor

The Basic Math Word Problem Tutor DVD course is very basic. It is an 8-hour course that comes on two discs and is broken into 15 sections. You can see a list of those sections at the link above.

The instructor begins the segments by giving the students some key terms to help recognize what type of operation should be used to solve the word problem. Then he works through several examples to help the student become comfortable with the process. He also explains how to do the operation in case a student is shaky on those concepts. I was surprised, however, to see the instructor showing how to add 7+5 by starting at 7 and counting up 5.

I do not have any students who are at a level to benefit from this course so I watched pieces of it on my own. If you have a student that does not learn concepts easily and needs a lot of repetition, this may be a good supplement for you. If you have a child that learns quickly, I would not recommend this product.

You can purchase this 8-hour, 2-disc video course for $26.99. MathTutorDVD also produces many other math help courses. They do offer a 30-day money back satisfaction guarantee.
