The 2009 Schoolhouse Planner

I am a planner. I can’t help myself. I make charts and lists and plan after plan. BUT . . . if there is no cohesion to the plans, they are useless. So how do we bring the plethora of charts into order? A planner! But the question still remains of what planner to use. Do we want one for household items and another for homeschool items? Or do we want them both together? What types of things do we want to keep in our planner? Do we want to be able to print only the pages we need, or do we want a preprinted planner? Choices . . . choices! We can pull a planner together ourselves from sources online. We can create the forms ourselves. Or we can save our energy and purchase a pre-made planner such as The 2009 Schoolhouse Planner.

The 2009 Schoolhouse Planner from The Old Schoolhouse Magazine is a hefty 374-page ebook with fillable fields that you can save. Here is just a glimpse of what you receive in the 4 sections of The Planner.

Section 1 contains yearly and monthly calendars. For each month there is also an informational article, resource list, and recipes.

Section 2 contains educational charts such as a Timeline of Inventions, Countries and Capitals, and a Kitchen Conversion Cheat Sheet.

Section 3 is all about helping you organize your homeschool. Topics range from goals to schedules to audio/video logs. There are even journal pages and coop planning sheets.

Section 4 is your source for household management. Menu planners, babysitter information, garden planning, and even an address book are just a few of the many tools provided to keep your home running smoothly.
  • Need to review your Annual Objectives? Take a look at your Planner.
  • Struggling with making dinners? Your Planner can keep you on track.
  • Can't remember a website address? Check your Planner Website Log.
  • The Planner will even help you plan your home repair projects!
Another resource designed to complement The Schoolhouse Planner is the Monthly Module, each month providing a mini-unit study. If the Planner does not fit your needs but the unit studies do, each Module is complete by itself. You can purchase the Modules individually for $7.95 or purchase a 2009-2010 Module Membership for $71.55, which includes 12 different units.

Is The 2009 Schoolhouse Planner right for you? Well, only you can answer that question. I decided it wasn’t quite right for me. Why? Well, I have already created many of the forms I need. (Did I mention I am a perpetual planner?) I just hadn’t put all those forms together in a useable manner. Will The Planner fit your needs? It would be great if you don’t have the time, energy, or desire to pull it all together yourself. All the forms for both household AND homeschool management are right there in one place. You can print just the forms you want, or you can print the whole book. You can even print multiple copies of any page you need. No need to spend hours searching or creating your own forms. You can take full advantage of the hard work the folks at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine have done for you.

Embarking on a Journey

I am very excited about embarking on my journey as part of the TOS Homeschool Crew! Throughout the next school year I will be posting my reviews of different homeschool products. I would love to receive your feedback. I need to know what parts of the reviews are helpful (and those that are not). I would appreciate hearing what else you would like to see included in the reviews. My goal is to provide the most informative reviews possible so that you can make knowledgeable decisions on what products may be an asset to your homeschool. With your helpful input I can do just that. I would love to have you follow me in this exciting journey.
